Diljit Dosanjh - G.O.A.T. (Review)

I haven’t done any review in recent times since I am a bit busy these days but my brother reminded me to get back to my stuff especially since my last reviewed album was Diljit’s CON.FI.DEN.TIAL.  Before I give my opinion on Diljit Dosanjh’s 11th album, let’s agree here that Diljit does not make average/below average songs these days. His vocals cannot and should not be reviewed. He is in his own league and has seasoned well, while many of his contemporaries has fallen off the scene. In his latest offering, Diljit has made a compilation of 16 new songs with more than 20 featured artists. So with that in mind let’s get to the stuff and see how Diljit fairs with his latest offering to his audience. 1.    Intro : First Track on the album is an intro. Diljit is both humble and bragging about his accomplishments in the intro which I feel is a bit unwanted since I can’t imagine a person who does not know who Diljit is. No rating for the intro. 2.    G.O.A.T :  Th...

Shaary Mann - Motor

I can say it is a thumb rule that everyone belonging to this generation of Punjab is a defacto Sharry Mann fan. And this is simply because of his works of early times belonging to his first, second and third albums (Yaar Anmulle, Aate Di Chidi and Meri Bebe). Every song had a special folk touch to it and the reason was Sharry Mann wrote his own songs. Despite being massive hits, the songs had a fragrance of Punjab to it. But in last few years Sharry Mann started releasing singles. It was a good thing for his fans who now would not have to wait for years to listen to his new songs. But he also started singing songs written by other lyricists. I am not saying it is a bad thing (he is an established star and is helping new talent to gain ground), but somewhere down the line, his songs became commercialized. The lyrics were mostly about daroo (alcohol) and gediyan etc. The special touch which was there in his early work was lost.

Diljit Dosanjh Con.Fi.Den.Tial review

And Diljit Dosanjh has dropped a new album out of nowhere after a gap of five years. There was no hype around this album, moreover, nobody knew about this album till Diljit disclosed it on his Twitter/Instagram account a few days back. Diljit has risen to new heights of stardom in last five years featuring in Bollywood movies, judging national talent shows and winning Filmfare award for his debut in Bollywood. But does this newly found fame weigh-in for his choice of songs in his new album Con.Fi.Den.Tial or is he going to continue the raw folk style he started on his last album Back To Basics alongside Tru-Skool. Not to mention that there is no featuring of likes of Tru-Skool and Veet Baljit; instead, Diljit has opted for Snappy as the music director and Rav Hanjra as the lyricist for his latest offering giving a kind of urban vibe to his new album. The title and song listing of the album also lay the ground for an Urban/R&B/Hip-Hop offering giving a 180-degree shift from his...

Asus Xonar U7 USB DAC & AMP Review

I got this Asus Xonar U7 soundcard, (DAC&AMP) in 2014 when I was exploring the idea of Hifi music & Lossless audio qualities. And this product has a very good audio output quality for its price point. This DAC/AMP is best used for pairing with Computer Speakers especially the 5.1&7.1 setups and thereby replacing the on board sound cards.

AKG Q701 - Reference class premium headphones. The Review!

A glance at AKG Q-701's , and we see bright green color with combinations of white or black. These headphones feel like a fashion statement complementing the color codes of nikes these days. Also, these headphones are huge! and when I say huge I mean it. These headphones are the biggest in my collection. Did i mention that these headphones are endorsed by the legendary Quincy Jones. The Q701's are like equivalent to Jordans from Nike. They are premium class products from a huge brand and are backed by the supremes of their field.Beyond the aesthetics lies a very premium pair of headphones which excel in reproducing sounds as they are meant to be.

The love of Kit Lens (18-55)

In the current day scenario, photography has become portable and easiest way to express our feelings be it on Facebook or Instagram or Pinterest or Twitter. And a big share of credit for the rise in photography awareness amongst people around the world goes to Smartphones. Smartphones these days have put a camera in hand of every toddler, and in a way, it is good that photography as an occupation and hobby has gained a lot of acclaims. My story of being a photographer as a hobby began in 2010 when I started using my Nokia N-97 mini as my primary camera. As time passed my smartphones changed and I started devoting more time to photographing my surroundings from my point of view. And in 2012 I got myself a DLSR (Canon EOS 550D) in a hope to capture photographs as I saw in photography sites like Flickr & on Facebook photography pages. I could not hold the excitement when I held my DLSR in my hand and started clicking photographs as if I was a professional photographer. And wi...

This collection includes all genres (RnB, HipHop, Pop, Jazz, Sufi, Folk, Traditional, Bollywood etc). The thing is I don't know what defines an audiophile, but I love to collect high-resolution audio songs and  headphones with a decent fan following. The technical specifications  of Sennheiser HD 650s are as follows: Headphone Type: Dynamic, Open, Over the ear Nominal Impedance: 300 ohm Frequency Response: 10-39500 Hz

Pen Review: ASA Royal, Custom Handmade Pen

One fine day we, a group of fountain pen enthusiasts Vaibhav, Tervinder, Rakshit, Sulagno, Pradeep, Prithwijit, Kapil and myself  were engaged in discussions to design a pen. The design was going through numerous iterations and me and a fellow fountain pen lover Sulagno liked one of the design prototypes very much. We approached ASA pens with the design and asked for help to make the design a reality. ASA pens took up the task and also procured the last pieces of a vintage acrylic material to be used to create the pen. Thus the ASA royal was born.
